The SITP Picnic: Sunday 08.01.10
Announcing the first ever Staten Island Tea Party Picnic. Like the Meet & Greets we did last year, this should be a great opportunity to exchange ideas and opinions with fellow SITP folks, as well as the organizers.
Hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken, corn on the cob, salads - the whole thing. The event will be held at the Mount Manresa Jesuit Retreat House at 239 Fingerboard Road, starting at 1:00PM and going till 5:00.
Oh, we're going to invite Manhattan-based TeaParty365, too - and we're going to play a Borough of Parks vs. Borough of Skyscrapers knock-down, drag-out softball game before the picnic starts. If you've got some game, write to me and let me know - ringers wanted.
We'll supply the food, beverages, picnic tables and chairs, shady trees, music and good company. You bring the family and have some fun in the sun - and feel free to talk politics all day long; we don't mind.
The cost is $25 per person, and here's the best part: WE'RE RAIN-PROOF! Mount Manresa has an indoor facility big enough to hold the whole picnic if the need arises; if you know anything about the Staten Island Tea Party, you know that our record with the weather is somewhat less than ideal.
This should be fun - I hope you can make it, and I think it's a great time to bring the friends and relatives who've been wondering what this crazy "tea party" thing you're involved with is all about. I love meeting and talking to new people - and, of course, it's always great for me to have an opportunity to put faces with the email names.
