The National Taxpayer Protest 09.12.09
Protesting taxation is not about money - it is about LIBERTY. When the government controls your property - and make no mistake, your money IS your property - the government controls your LIFE and acts as a hindrance to your PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS.
Every schoolchild used to be taught the famous phrase penned by Thomas Jefferson in the Declaration of Independence:
"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all Men are created equal, that they are endowed by their creator with certain inalienable rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."
The Framers crafted the phrase "endowed by their creator" to mean that these rights are natural states of being. Our government exists not to confer rights upon us - but to protect us against those that would usurp them!
It follows that when both the Executive and Legislative branches of the United States government act in concert to overtax their own people, and to burden one portion of our society to the direct benefit of another portion, it is a de facto violation of our Constitution.
It is time for the American people to go to Washington; we must let our elected representatives know that we will be silent no longer. We will NOT accept transgressions upon our rights. We will NOT permit the casual disregard of our Constitution. We will NOT permit responsible and thrifty citizens to bear the cost of bailing out the irresponsible. We will NOT accept the punishment of the best and the brightest among us through excessive taxation and over-regulation. We will NOT accept the horrific expansion of the federal government into our lives and private enterprises.
We will let them know that revolution is brewing, but it will take many voices; they are too arrogant and too powerful to listen to a few. Join us, and together we will make a sound they cannot ignore, the sound of millions of Americans demanding REAL change - the kind of change that will take us off the destructive path to collectivism and a state-run economy, and back to the path of free-market capitalism and our God-given right to LIFE, LIBERTY and the PURSUIT of HAPPINESS!
