Congressman McMahon, Are You Listening?
On April 15th, in front of the offices of their Congressman, over 350 Staten Island patriots gathered at a Tax Day Tea Party to demand that their voices be heard. Without regard to party affiliation, Americans of all political stripes, angry at the direction their country is taking, cried out in a single voice for a return to the principles of our CONSTITUTION, which guaranteed that Americans would forever be FREE and INDEPENDENT PEOPLE.
That event was only the beginning - we had vowed to be silent no longer.
On August 2nd, in historic Conference House Park, Staten Islanders rose up once again. Almost 700 patriots braved torrential rains to once again make their voices heard. Punctuated by flashing lightning and crashing thunder, an undaunted crowd heard speaker after speaker decry the headlong rush to socialism spearheaded by our representatives. On that day, we echoed the actions of John Adams, Benjamin Franklin and Edward Rutledge, as shoulder-to-shoulder we stood and vowed, as they did 233 years ago, that we would never trade our liberty for peace or security.
ALL politicians, of ALL parties, are in jeopardy of being tossed out of office by an electorate that is fed up with out-of-control spending and knee-jerk bailouts, as well as attempts to nationalize our financial institutions and industries, to socialize our health care system and to expand the reach and control of the federal government ways that our Founding Fathers expressly prohibited in our Constitution.
Now we are taking our commitment to our country and our strong voices to the belly of the beast - Washington DC. We will be one million strong, and WE WILL BE HEARD!
